Accessibility and Disability Awareness

Creating accessible content and applications requires an understanding of the needs of users, how assistive technology works, and what standards are used. Below are introductions to Web accessibility and the guidelines we adhere to in developing our products.

• Web Accessibility Initiative - The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) develops strategies, standards, and supporting resources to help you make the Web more accessible to people with disabilities.
• Introduction to Web Accessibility - A comprehensive edX online course offered by the W3C Web Accessibility Initiative. “Get a strong foundation in digital accessibility to make your websites and apps work well for people with disabilities, meet international standards, and provide a better user experience for everyone.”
• Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) Overview - A W3C Web Accessibility Initiative resource that explains what WCAG is, who it is for, and how the guidelines are structured, updated and maintained. It also provides brief summaries and links to other related guidelines and standards.
• Introduction to Web Accessibility - An introductory resource developed by WebAIM. It is designed to "help you understand how people with disabilities use the web, the frustrations they feel when they cannot access the web, and what you can do to make your sites more accessible.”
