Sets

Most of the symbols used for set notation are able to be entered using the braille terminal. The only exception is the empty set (braces) because the equation editor does not yet support the showing of blank spaces. However, if you enter the same symbol from the palette, this will not occur.

Exercises

Type the following expressions into the equation editor below and verify that the equation editor produces the proper Nemeth braille output in each case. Also verify that a sighted friend can read each expression you have typed as it is displayed on the screen. Feel free to try your own examples.

  • X is a member of [y]
