Disability & Advoacy Organizations

Collaborating and engaging with various disability and advocacy organizations is an integral part of the Accessibility Team for Assessments’ ongoing efforts to ensure accessibility in all we do. Such organizations include, but are not limited to, the National Federation of the Blind (NFB), the National Association of the Deaf (NAD), the American Educational Research Association (AERA), the Learning Disabilities Association of America (LDA), the Council of Exceptional Children (CEC), and many others.

  • National Federation of the Blind (NFB) is the oldest and largest nationwide organization of blind Americans that coordinates many programs, services, and resources to defend the rights of blind Americans.
  • National Association of the Deaf (NAD) is a civil rights organization of, by and for deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals in the United States of America.
  • American Educational Research Association (AERA) is a national research society that strives to advance knowledge about education, to encourage scholarly inquiry related to education, and to promote the use of research to improve education and serve the public good.
  • Learning Disabilities Association of America (LDA) is an organization that works to create opportunities for success for all individuals affected by learning disabilities and to reduce the incidence of learning disabilities in future generations.
  • Knowbility is a nonprofit organization with the mission of improving technology access for millions of youth and adults with disabilities all over the world.
  • Council of Exceptional Children (CEC) is a professional association of educators dedicated to advancing the success of children with exceptionalities.
  • International Association of Accessibility Professionals (IAAP) is a nonprofit membership-based organization for individuals and organizations that are focused on accessibility or are in the process of building their accessibility skills and strategies. The objective is to help accessibility professionals develop and advance their knowledge and to better support organizations in integrating accessibility into their services, products and infrastructure.

Accessibility Team for Assessments Staff Involvement:

Members of the Accessibility Team for Assessments strive to further their knowledge and skills by maintaining active memberships with various organizations that provide information, resources, and training in disability and accessibility.
